Upcoming Meet Schedule and Info

We hope everyone has defrosted from our meet today!  Here is some important information regarding the Carlisle Invitational and our final away meet at Hanscom (Lincoln).

Carlisle Invitational Important Information (Please Read)

We are looking forward to hosting you all at our Carlisle Invitational Meet on Monday October 21st at Great Brook State Park.  Please read this email carefully as it has important information.  Parking is extremely limited so please encourage parents to car pool. In addition, the park charges a $3 parking fee that will be collected when cars enter the lot.   The schedule for the day is as follows: 3:30 Varsity Boys 4:00 Varsity Girls 4:30 JV Boys 5:00 JV Girls.  I am aware that this is a tight schedule for our first race with some bussing companies but please do your best to arrive in time to begin the first race as scheduled.  

We will start races ahead of schedule if able so please make sure your runners are at the line ready to go once the prior race has started.

   Each team has a starting box starting with number 1 closest to the corn field and 17 on the outside as follows:

Spectators are encouraged to support all runners.  It is important that the course remain clear for all runners. Do not block the starting or finishing area as these areas get the most crowded. Keep to the side of all trails.  Please plan on arriving with plenty of time to park as to not miss your child's race.  Be sure to know if they are running varsity or JV.

For Runners

Runners should plan on using the porta potties for the bathroom to be set up near the runner's staging area and not the one's by the Interpretative Center (near drop off).

Course Description:  The course distance is 1.95 miles and has varied terrain including trails with stones and roots.  Sections of the course include rolling hills.  Course Map

Please remind your child that we will be leaving WMS at 2:10 on Monday for this meet.  This early release will make it possible for us to arrive on team and warm-up prior to the first race.  If you plan on attending the meet and bringing your child home with you please send an email detailing your pick-up plan.

Hanscom (Lincoln) - PLEASE READ!!!!!!!

This meet takes place on the military base.  In order to gain entrance to the base all spectators need to provide their full names and date of birth to us no later than Monday morning.  We need to send our "spectator" list to Hanscom Monday morning and then you will be allowed to enter the base on Thursday for the meet.  Sorry for the inconvenience but this is the only way parents can gain access to the base.  We do not need birthdates for team members, only for spectators.

XC Weekly Update

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful long weekend!  Here is the schedule for the week.  Looking forward to it.

Tuesday - Home meet against Acton.  The boys will run first followed by the girls.  We hope Acton arrives around 3:15 and then we will walk the course prior to the first race.  Hopefully the meet will begin around 3:45.  It might be a little earlier if Acton is able to arrive sooner.

Thursday - Home meet against Diamond MS of Lexington.  The girls will run first followed by the boys.  Lexington will hopefully arrive around 3:30 and then we will do our course walk.  We anticipate the meet beginning around 4:00 although it might be earlier if Lexington arrives sooner.

Friday - Practice from 3:30-4:30.

*******  It is very hard to believe that we have 2 weeks left to our season.  Here is the schedule for the final week as well so you can plan ahead.

Monday, October 21st - Carlisle Invitational - This is a very large meet with about 20 schools and it takes place at Great Brook Farm in Carlisle.  All teams that are participating need to arrive at Great Brook Farm around 3:30.  Due to our new school start time, we will not be able to make it there in time unless we are dismissed from school early.  WMS teachers are aware that XC team members will be dismissed from school at 2:15 on October 21st so that we can attend the invitational.  Our team bus will transport our team to and from the meet as usual.  If you plan on attending and would like to bring your child home with you directly from the meet, please send an email explaining your pick up plan.  There will be more details regarding this meet in our next email during the week including estimated start times of all 4 races as there will be a boys varsity race, boys JV race, girls varsity race and a girls JV race.  As usual, if you have any questions, please let us know.  

Tuesday, October 22nd - Team run to Dairy Queen.  This is a WMS XC team tradition where we run from the middle school to DQ in Natick for an ice cream and then run back.  In order to participate in this "WORKOUT" a permission slip needs to be signed and returned to the coaches.  We will send home this permission slip during the week.  Be on the look out for it.

Thursday, October 24th - Our last meet of the season will take place in Lincoln against Lincoln (Hanscom).

Hello everyone,

Great job by everyone yesterday at our away meet against Waltham.  Both the girls and boys teams were victorious and the meet was filled with personal bests!  Here is the schedule for our up-coming meet.  Please note the change in practice time today and the addition of a meet on Monday.  Enjoy the weekend!

Today - Practice will end at 4:15.

Monday - Away meet against Lincoln MS - The bus will transport team members to and from Lincoln MS on Monday.  We plan to leave around 3:30.  As usual, a return time is difficult to predict, but our approximate ETA is about 5:45.  If you plan on picking your child up at the meet, please email us your pick-up plan.  

Tuesday - Practice from 3:30-4:30

Thursday - Practice from 3:30-4:30

Friday - Practice from 3:30-4:30
